The iMATHimation Show Welcome to the world of iMATHimation! In this captivating assembly students explore the amazing world of Math. They will see how math is used in practically EVERYTHING they do in today’s modern world. One of the major goals for this assembly is to motivate students to WANT to learn, understand, and use math. Mr. Mitchell uses his background in education and unique entertainment skills to focus student’s attention on math as it relates to them in their life now and in the future. Through the use of incredible sleight of hand, magical illusions, amazing math stunts, creative props, music and even ventriloquism the audience’s eyes are glued to every segment of the assembly. Audience participation and hands on activities are employed throughout the journey into math fun and motivation. We explore the use of math in areas like: MUSIC Where the entire audience participates in a fun and unique song where we see math underlies ALL MUSIC. FINANCES They see the value of savings and interest as their money saved and invested magically GROWS with interest. FORMULAS The importance of following formulas to obtain positive results are seen as a giant Birthday Cake is magically created using measurements, fractions, and following step by step instructions. NUMBERS ARE RELIABLE “You can count on numbers” is a phrase used to teach the reliability of numbers as students see and participate in incredible math stunts that they are able to take home and amaze family and friends. MATH ACCOMPLISHES IMPOSSIBLE RESULTS Using mathematical principals, students race to build a bridge across a span to support unbelievable weight for the materials used. THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX PROVIDES POSITIVE ANSWERS The use of an astounding geometric puzzle shows how the use of positive thinking and perseverance defies self instilled myths about math. We turn “Math Whiners” into “Math Wizards”! ADDITION, SUBTRACTION, MULTIPLICATION, AND DIVISION The assembly begins with a fast paced magic to music segment creating opportunities for the students to identify these basic math applications used in fun and amazing ways. Students leave pumped with excitement as they are exposed to the global and universal use of MATH.
